Week 1 - 6/9/24
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Year 3! Miss Carr and I are very excited for the academic year ahead and look forward to getting to know you all .
Homework for this week:
English homework:
In this week's English lessons, the children have been focusing on their SPaG (spellings, punctuation and grammar) skills. Therefore, for this week's homework, we would like the children to write a minimum of 5 sentences about their summer holidays or this weekend's events using a range of punctuation marks including full stops, commas, capital letters, question marks and exclamation marks.
Each children has been sent home with their orange homework book. Please get the children to complete these sentences into this book and return it by next Tuesday.
Spellings:
Each child has been sent home with a spelling sheet for the whole term. Please make sure your child knows which group they are in. These groups are either 'sharks' or 'whales'.
Please make sure you check the dates so that you know that your child is practising the correct spellings for each week.
Reading:
Each child has been sent home with a reading folder, reading book and reading record this week. It is really important that the children are reading as much as possible (preferably daily). Please make a note each time your child has read at least 10 minutes so it goes towards their 100 reads to get a book from the vending machine. Once your child has finished their book, please remind them to put it in their class reading folder box so it can be changed if necessary.
