7th September 2020 - Jesus the Teacher
It's Monday, 7th September 2020.
Hello everyone, It’s Mr Keep here.
May the Lord be with you.
We are Bishop Ridley
We are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.
Our song for today is
Our Bible verse for today is Matthew 11:15
“Listen then if you have ears to hear.”
Our thought for the day
Let’s start by watching this together
In the video, was Ben a good teacher?
I wonder if you can think of something that it was easy for you to learn and something which it was hard to learn? What made the difference?
It can help us even more if we make sure that we are ready to learn. Can you share some ways that you can be ready to learn?
To learn, you need to be ready to listen.... I wonder what then makes for the best teacher as you listen?
Do you agree with anything in this clip?
Many people consider Jesus to have been a great teacher. Our Bible verse today is taken from Matthew Chapter 11. This is the story of what happened.
A large group was gathered on a hillside. They had been listening to John the Baptist. As the crowd began to leave,
Jesus started to talk to them and said, ‘Listen then if you have ears to hear.’
I wonder what he meant?
Think about what you know about Jesus. I wonder how he brought out the best in people?
Reflection Time
Think for a moment about what you know about Jesus. What made him a good teacher.
Each of us has the opportunity to teach and help others to stay safe and to learn to make good choices. Today, we can ask for wisdom from God to be good teachers and good learners.
Our prayer for today
Thank you God for Jesus the teacher and for everyone who teaches us day by day. Help us to open our eyes, ears and minds to see, listen and think so that we can learn more about you and about your world. AMEN.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
