8th October 2020

It's Thursday, 8th October 2020.

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Torrance here today.

May the Lord be with you.

We are Bishop Ridley, we are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.

Our Bible verse for today is Romans 5: 3-5

"We also boast of our troubles, because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance brings God's approval, and his approval creates hope. This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us."

We are going to be thinking about:   Why we should never give up!

The Bible reminds us that it is not unusual to go through hard times but that they help us to grow and give us hope.

What des this picture make you think of?

How might it be possible for this tree to flourish here?

What helps people to flourish when they are in a difficult situation?

Think about a piece of spaghetti.

What happens if you put pressure on it when it is dry?

What would happen if it was cooked?

When it is dry it will crack, when it is cooked it will spring back!

I wonder if you have ever experienced a time when you felt wobbly inside, but actually you were able to spring back from  a difficult situation?

I wonder who could you ask to help you if you are struggling to spring back?

I wonder if there is anyone who might need your help with something right now?

Our song for today is about never giving up.

Our prayer for today:

Dear God,

Please help me move beyond the hurdles that trip me up, give me the strength and wisdom to look up and see the hope I run toward in Christ.

In Jesus' name,

Amen

Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
