5th October 2020
It's Monday, 5th October 2020.
Hello everyone, it’s Mr Keep here.
May the Lord be with you.
We are Bishop Ridley, we are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.
Our Bible verse for today is Luke 18:1-5
We are going to be thinking about: We Can Do Anything.....TOGETHER!!
Our song for today is:
Our Thought For Today
This week, we are thinking about the idea of resilience.
You have probably heard your teacher talk about resilience....
Talk to the person next to you. What do you think
RESILIENCE
means? When have you heard people mention it?
Resilience means keeping on going even when we encounter difficulties.
Today’s Bible story is about someone who tried to do something really hard and kept going. You can watch it in the video below:
How many times do you think she had to ask the judge before he gave in?
Why did he eventually help?
I wonder how the widow in the story felt about having to go back again and again?
I wonder if you have ever asked someone for justice and they wouldn’t listen to you?
Reflection Time
Let's think about the middle part of our school vision:
... Learning & Growing Together ...
Resilience - It’s not an easy thing to show, but it makes a huge difference - especially if we all try and develop it together.
It’s also something we can learn to get better at! We can develop resilience in our hearts and minds through practice, a bit like we develop muscles in our body when we exercise.
In school, we try and exercise every day. If it's not a PE day, then we try and do our mile for the day! If we do this every day, we will get stronger in our bodies. It gets easier to do our mile the more times we do it. Just like we can build resilience by trying to show it everyday and in different circumstances.
But do you know what.... it's even better if we try and show resilience together!!
When you're running by yourself it's easy to get distracted, or think that you can't keep up the pace. So you slow down and take a breather, or you stop and wait for a minute.
BUT - when you're running with someone who is also trying their hardest to keep on going, you can encourage each other when you feel like stopping. Exercising with someone alongside you can make it easier - just like working on our resilience together makes it easier!
Our prayer for today
Ask someone in your class if they would like to lead our prayer for today:
Dear God,
We thank you for the people you put into our lives who can help us persevere and build our resilience together.
We also know that there are some things which that we can't do - even with someone's help - we thank you that we can rely on you to help us and guide us in our times of need.
We pray that you will help each of us to build our resilience. We pray that you will support us to help each others to build their resilience - TOGETHER.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
