As an Anglian (Church of England) school, we are required to have a SIAMS Inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) in addition to an Ofsted Inspection.

Key Stage 2 SATs Results 2023 (Provisional)
At the end of KS2, children sit the KS2 SATS in reading, mathematics and English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling. Their class teacher also ‘teacher assesses’ their writing.
The combined reading, writing and maths measure uses the reading and maths test results along with the outcome of the writing TA. Together, these subjects give a broad measure of pupil attainment.
To reach the expected standard in all of reading, writing and maths, a pupil must achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in reading and maths tests and an outcome of ‘working at the expected standard’ or ‘working at greater depth’ in writing teacher assessment.

To reach the higher standard, a pupil must achieve a scaled score of 110 or more in reading and maths tests and an outcome of ‘working at greater depth’ in writing teacher assessment.

Scaled scores are used to report the results of tests so we can make accurate comparisons of performance over time. The average scaled score is calculated as the mean scaled score of all pupils awarded a scaled score. Pupils who did not take the test are excluded from the calculation.
Each pupil’s progress is compared from his/her KS1 SATS results to the associated KS2 SATS result. The progress measures are a type of value added measure, which means that pupils’ results are compared to the actual achievements of other pupils nationally with similar prior attainment. The calculation of these figures can be quite complicated and is explained in more detail here

Key Stage 1

Phonics Screening
At the end of Year 1, each pupil undertakes a phonics screening check. This is designed to give us and parents information about how a child is progressing with his/her phonics. If children do reach the expected score in year 1, or are not in a UK school at the time, they re-sit the check at the end of Year 2.

EYFS
At the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage, pupils are assessed against the Early Learning Goals. Children will be defined as having reached a good level of development (GLD) at the end of the EYFS is they achieve at least the expected level in:
*the early learning goals in the prime areas of learning (personal, social and emotional development; physical development and communication and language)
*the early learning goals in literacy
*the early learning goals in mathematics.
