Homework

Homework will be sent out every Friday and is due back in the following Wednesday.  Spellings will also be set on a Friday and they will be tested the following Friday.

Please complete homework in your homework books and bring these back to school.  Printed copies of the homework will be provided on request.

Use your spelling journals to practise your spellings.

There are no spellings this week as next Friday is our last day and we won't be mean enough to give you a spelling test on your last day!

Friday 28th May

Your homework this week is to create an amazing, fun-packed non-fiction page all about caterpillars, moths and butterflies.  Use all of the features of non-fiction writing we have learnt this year (headings, sub-headings, bullet points, glossary, diagrams and more) to make your writing exciting and easy to understand.  You could include pictures, illustrations and diagrams.  Why not include a labelled diagram to explain the life cycle of a butterfly?  Make sure your page is packed full of information and is colourful.

You can do your own research although there are some files below to get you started.  We look forward to seeing your finished work.

As it's half term, you have got until Friday 11th June to bring your work in.

Challenge: Can you find out how Southwest Airlines in America helped a Monarch Butterfly?

Spellings - Friday 28th May

Please note, spellings will be tested on Wednesday 31st March
This week we are asking the children to carry on learning the Year 5 Speed Spell list.  We will test them next Friday (11th December).  Every half term, we will test the children on these 50 words.    The idea is that the children will know these words by the end of Year 5 so there is still plenty of time.  We hope to see an improvement each half term but are not expecting children to get them all correct at this stage.
This week we are asking the children to start to learn the Year 5 Speed Spell list.  Every half term, we will test the children on these 50 words.  Please just learn some of the words this week (maybe 10-20).  The idea is that the children will know these words by the end of Year 5 so there is plenty of time.  We hope to see an improvement each half term.
