Next Monday is a Bank Holiday in the UK, this is because it is the Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated fifty days after Easter Sunday. The holiday is also called "White Sunday" or "Whitsunday" or "Whitsun", It is very important in the Christian calendar because it celebrates the time when Jesus ascended to Heaven to be with God the Father the Holy Spirit (the third part of the Trinity) came down to dwell with Christ's followers on Earth.
We have added 3 different short videos for you to watch which will explain more about Pentecost and we have also added a powerpoint and a link to the Bible verse which tells the story of the Coming of the Holy Spirit.
Why not try out some activities relating to Pentecost over the Whitsun half term:
- create a cartoon strip;
- make a puppet story of the Coming of the Holy Spirit;
- print off the colouring in sheets (attached); or
- follow the instructions to make a Pentecost Windmill (attached).
