5th May 2020
It's Tuesday, 5th May 2020. Mr Keep here.
Good morning, everyone. May the Lord be with you.
We are Bishop Ridley, we are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.
Our song for today.
Today we will sing My Lighthouse. Think about ways that you can be a light of kindness which other people will see.
Our Bible passage for today is
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
Our thought for the day
In the verse above it mentions, "to give you hope."
I wonder what you think of when you hear the word hope?
In the dictionary it gives a definition: A feeling of expectation and desire for something to happen.
It can be an encouraging and uplifting feeling. Even when things seem to be going badly, feeling hopeful can help us remain determined and give our best.
I wonder what you are hopeful for? Are there things at the moment that you would like to be different?
I wonder whether you could be the hope for others? Are there things you could do which would help other people's good hopes become real? A small action like saying something positive when someone around you feels a bit down, or offering to help could spark a feeling of hope in those around you.
The Bible reminds Christians to put their hope in God. Christians believe that God doesn’t change or go away. This helps Christians to feel certain in God's word and provides the hopeful foundations they need to stay strong when things get difficult.
I wonder if you could be the strong foundations for someone else by being hopeful about a situation? Could you give some encouraging words or remain positive even if it is difficult?
Today we are going to pray for those who need hope. We can ask God to give them strength and joy and
hope for the future. When things seem hopeless, we have the chance to make the biggest difference.
A prayer for today
We are going to pray for hope. Remember that we can say:
- Thank you
- Sorry
- Please
See if you can use them to say your own personal prayer to God this morning and if you feel a bit stuck, you can use the prayer below.
Dear God,
Thank you God for your promise of hope. You don't change and we can rely on your love for us.
We are sorry for the times that we make bad choices. Help us to remember the example which Jesus set.
Please help us to keep hope in our hearts. Help us to understand your plans for us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
