Today, we will watch the first chapter of the story read by J Haines, listen carefully to how he draws the listener in, by asking you to consider where the story is set from the clues on the front cover and, as you watch, consider how his use of facial expressions and the different voices he gives each character adds to the story.

After you have listened, we would like you to consider the questions on the worksheet, comparing the way J Haines read the story with how you read out loud (even if you have read part or all of the story at home, we would like you to listen to the story again, but this time it is being delivered by a different reader).

NOW WATCH THE VIDEO AND ENJOY LISTENING TO CHAPTER 1...

The Firework Maker's Daughter 1
