13th May 2020

It's Wednesday, 13th May 2020.

Hello everyone, it’s Mr Keep here.
May the Lord be with you.

We are Bishop Ridley, we are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.

Our song for today
We'll start with a song, click below for “Be Bold, Be Strong”. Feel free to sing along and if you have someone with you, you could even try to sing the parts!

Our Bible passage for today is Romans 15:13

May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace.

Our thought for the day

Yesterday, we started thinking about Joy. We learned about Abraham and Sarah. God made a promise to them and this brought them great joy.

Today, we’re going to look at another Bible story. The story today starts with a man full sadness; struggling to get by. During the story we see how powerful friendship can be and through Jesus’ miracle, he and his friends are joyful.

Watch the story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cmppSIQUX4

Many people in the Bible leapt with joy after meeting and being healed by Jesus.

Think again about a time when you have been really joyful and happy. What made you feel so

Finally, take a couple of moments to look at this picture, called Leap for Joy, by James Martin. Think about how the person in the picture must feel. What do you think could have happened to make them feel such joy that they actually leapt in the air? Could it be the paralysed man after he had been healed?

Reflection Time
What brings you joy and happiness? I wonder how you bring joy to others? How can you be joyful today and share joy with others?

A prayer for today
Our Bible verse for today is often said as a prayer over people. I wonder who might need God to fill them with joy today. Perhaps you could talk to God and ask him to fill those you are thinking about with joy and peace.

May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace.

Romans 15:13

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
