14th May 2020
It's Thursday, 14th May 2020.
Hello, everyone. It’s Mr Keep here.
.
May the Lord be with you.
We are Bishop Ridley, We are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.
Our song for today is not in its normal place…. It’s going to come a bit later today. You’ll see why when you get there!
Our Bible Story for today is from Ruth 2
Our thought for the day
We have thought about “Joy” for the last couple of days. Today we are going to think about our school vision and particularly how we can show God's love through showing kindness.
I wonder if you are always kind? Sometimes things happen which make us angry or annoyed. It can be a challenge to stay calm when people do things which annoy us. If you are getting cross, it can be helpful to take a deep breath before re-acting. Taking a breath can help us choose how we react, rather than letting our emotions take control. It gives us a better chance to show kindness.
There is a story in the Old Testament about a lady called Ruth. When she arrived in Bethlehem with her mother-in-law, Naomi, they didn’t have any money or food to eat. Boaz took pity on Ruth and allowed her to gather up the corn that was left after the field had been harvested. He also gave her food and drink during the day. This changed Ruth’s life and enabled her to feed herself and her mother in law.
Boaz didn’t need to do this, but he was a kind man and knew he could help and make a difference in the lives of those who didn’t have any food. He knew it was right to be kind and help others.
Do you think that Boaz was showing the love of God? I wonder what you could do to follow the example of Boaz?
Do you think our kindness disappears sometimes? I wonder if sometimes we choose to not be kind? It might be that we are embarrassed or don’t want to get involved in a situation.
Perhaps a deep breath could help us to show kindness to others. Or a quick prayer to ask God to help us show kindness
Reflection Time
Whenever you feel like not being kind, remember to try to find your kindness deep inside. You could ask God to help you to be kind even when it is difficult.
A prayer for today
Were you wondering what had happened to our song today? Here’s the answer. Today we are going to combine our prayer and our song for the day.
The Lord’s Prayer is such an important prayer for Christians. In the books of Matthew and Luke, it reports that Jesus taught his disciples that they should not pray to show off, nor should they prayer using words which they didn’t really mean.
For your prayer today, why not listen to this version of the Lord’s Prayer and think about the meaning of the words we pray. Think about the TSP we have thought about recently - thanks, sorry and please.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
