Thursday 10th September 2020
Hello everyone, It’s Mr Martindale here - I've planned your collective worship for today.
May the Lord be with you.
We are Bishop Ridley
We are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.
Our song for today is:
Today we are going to be learning from Jesus the teacher about treating others as you would want to be treated.
Our Bible verse for today is Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
How do you like to be treated?
How do you treat others?
We are going to listen to a story that will help us think about this but first we are going to imagine something. Imagine that you won an art competition. And the prize for winning the competition is an amazing set of colouring pencils. Something like this:
Would you share them with your friends? Would you allow other children to use them?
As you listen to the story, think about the people who said they couldn't help - they had nothing to share!
This traditional folk tale depicts the values of generosity and sharing with those who are in need, as well as using a little ingenuity to get what you need!
The Stone Soup story shows how sharing means that everybody benefits and the importance of doing kind deeds.
Time to Reflect
Think about the things that we can share with our friends and how we can be generous and treat others as we would wish to be treated ourselves.
Let's Pray
Dear God,
Help me to be grateful for what I have and help me to remember that joy can be found in the act of sharing. Teach me to be a good neighbour to everyone that I meet and to treat others as I would like to be treated: with kindness and respect.
Amen
Let's say the Lord's Prayer together:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
