5th November 2020
Good morning, everybody! It’s Miss Facey here today.
May the Lord be with you.
We are Bishop Ridley, we are:
One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.
Our song for today is:
Our Bible passage for today is Philippians 4:6-7
'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.'
What do you think we can learn from this Bible passage?
What do you think 'guard your hearts and your minds' means?
On Monday, Mr Keep told us a Bible story about the importance of remembering.
Have a look at the pictures below and consider what they mean. What do they all have in common? What are they encouraging us to remember?
All of the images above are associated with peace.
What do you associate with peace? Do you go anyone special to find it?
Does it look the same for everyone? Does this matter?
The world needs lot of reminders of peace which is why there are so many different symbols. I wonder why these reminders are so important at the moment.
In the lead up to next Wednesday, you will see lots of these. What are they? Why do people wear them?
As we have just been told, the poppy symbolises many different things:
It is a way of remembering the sacrifice made by many who fought against those who would take away democratic freedoms from our world.
It is a sign of hope, inspired as it is by the poppy fields in Belgium, where the flowers grew on the very land that had, during the First World War, been battlegrounds.
It can also be seen as a 'vote for peace'. What do you think this means? Who do you think has a vote of peace?
Time to reflect
Today we have a piece of music to listen to while we reflect. Think carefully about what you could do today to share peace with somebody else.
Our prayer for today:
Dear God,
Today we remember the bravery of all of those who have enabled us to find peace. We pray for those who are looking for peace and we ask that you watch over them and keep them safe on their journey to find it.
Help us to share our peace with those who need it the most. Let us be mindful of those who need our help and help us to be thankful for the peace that we have in our lives.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
