19th October 2020
It's Monday, 19th October 2020.
Hello everyone, it’s Mr Keep here.
May the Lord be with you.
We are Bishop Ridley, we are One Community, Learning & Growing Together, Sharing the Love of God.
Our Song For Today
Our verse for today: Romans 5 v3-5
"...because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."
Our thought for today
The Bible reminds me us that it is not unusual to go though hard times but that they help us to grow and give us hope.
What does this picture make you think of? How might it be possible for this tree to flourish here?
What helps people to flourish when they are in a difficult situation?
You could take a piece of spaghetti - what happens if you put pressure on it when it is dry? – It cracks easily.
But that happens when it is cooked?
When it is cooked it bends and flexes without breaking.
I wonder if you have you ever had an experience where something difficult made you "crack"? Maybe you lost your temper, or said something which you regretted.
I wonder if you have you ever experienced a time when you felt wobbly inside, but actually you were able to spring back from a difficult situation? This happens to everyone at some time and is natural.
I wonder who could you ask to help you if you are struggling to spring back?
I wonder if there is anyone who might need your help with something hard right now?
Our prayer for today
Dear God,
Please help me move beyond the hurdles that trip me up
Give me the strength and wisdom to look up and see hope
In Jesus’ Name,
AMEN
