Spring 2 - Week 1: Set 28th February 2025
World Book Day Homework
Thursday 6th March marks World Book Day, and we have various exciting activities to complete that day at Bishop Ridley. There are a couple of things that we would like to share with you, including this week’s homework. All children are invited to create their very own Potato Head character. This could be any character they like – from a favourite book or a character that they have created themselves for a story. Children can use a real potato and decorate it using resources that you have available at home, eg paints, pens, tin foil. There is lots of inspiration online. If you do not have a potato going spare at home, then a drawn character can be used instead. A template will be available on the school website, in the World Book Day tab, and all potatoes need to be returned to school by Thursday 6th March. We will be holding a Potato Parade during the afternoon to see them all.
As in previous years, children are invited to dress up as a book character or word from the dictionary, eg ‘sporty’. Please ensure appropriate footwear and a coat are still worn!
Finally, thank you for any books that have been sent in so far for the Book Swap. It is a fantastic opportunity for all children to take home a different book to enjoy. If possible, please send a donation of a book in with your child before next Thursday, so that we have a chance to sort them into age appropriate groups.
