English Homework – due 30.9.25
For homework this week, we are focusing on handwriting. By this stage in the children’s education, they should be able to form all of their letters in the correct direction, starting and finishing in the correct place, ready to progress onto cursive handwriting. They also need to form the ascenders and descenders for any necessary letters.
Over the last couple of weeks, we have noticed that some children are still finding this a little tricky. As such, we have provided the details of our school’s handwriting provider – Letterjoin – below so children are able to regularly access it to practise these skills at home. There is also a link to an introductory video to watch for guidance.

For this week’s homework, we would like the children to practise the sections of ‘easy letters’ and ‘harder letters’. There are videos for each of the letters that the children are able to view and follow. We are asking that they use one line per letter for the letters a, b, d, f, g, h, j, k, p, q, t, u, y, z (lower case).
For those children who are already very comfortable in their handwriting skills (these children have been informed who they are today), we would like them to consolidate this knowledge by writing out a range of words they have been misspelling in class over the last couple of weeks – here, hear, where, wear, there, their, they’re, to, two, too, was, they, when (3 of each word, please).
To do list:
- Read your school book (10 minutes per night)
- Practise your spellings (10 minutes per night)
- Practise your 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times tables
- Complete your English homework into your orange English book (due Tuesday).
