Week 6 - 10/10/25
Homework for this week:
English:
Today (Friday 10th), is World Mental Health therefore, we should be reminded of the importance of creating space for reflection, compassion and healing.
This year, Miss Taylor is going to be hosting a Poem and Prayer Competition to encourage our community to use the power of words to raise awareness and nurture hope.
Entry guidelines:
- Entries must connect to the theme of mental health, resilience or compassion.
- Deadline for submission: Wednesday 22nd October.
Winners will be celebrated with certificates of appreciation and selected works will be displayed on the KS1 corridor for the parents to see.
The children have 2 weeks to complete this homework to enter the competition.
Spellings:
Please make sure you are practising 'week 6' spellings ready for next weeks test.
Extra copies will be in the 'Spelling and Speed Spell' folder.
Reading:
It is really important that the children are reading as much as possible (preferably daily). Please make a note each time your child has read at least 10 minutes so it goes towards their 100 reads to get a book from the vending machine. Once your child has finished their book, please remind them to put it in their class reading folder box so it can be changed if necessary.
Times tables
We will continue to use our maths programme 'Number sense' to prepare the children for the Year 4 multiplication check in June.
Please make sure your child is practising their 2x, 5x and doubles (division facts too) ready for our daily tests again next week.
To do list:
- Read your school book (try to aim for at least 10 minutes per day)
- Practise your doubles, 2 and 5x tables (and division facts) ready for our daily tests next week
- Practise your 'week 6' spellings for next weeks test (Friday)
- Complete your English homework into your orange English homework book (Wednesday 22nd October)
