Week 4 - 20/3/26
Notice:
On the 1st Friday back after half term, it is Art Day. The theme this year is: A Garden of Expression: Cultivating Community Through Art.
We are going to be making recycled garden sculptures: creating flowers, insects, or garden creatures using recycled materials. Therefore, we are going to need recycled items such as:
- large plastic bottles
- a range of plastic trays/ boxes
- egg cartons
- lolly sticks
- cardboard boxes
- bottle lids
- unwanted card/ paper
Please send any items in by Thursday 16th April. Thank you in advance :D
Maths:
The children have started their second Year 4 Decimals unit this week (something they have never done before). Therefore, this week's homework reinforces their newly learnt skills of partitioning decimals into tens, ones, tenths and hundredths.
Spellings:
Please make sure you are practising 'week 5' spellings ready for next weeks test.
Extra copies will be in the 'Spelling and Speed Spell' folder.
Reading:
It is really important that the children are reading as much as possible (preferably daily). Please make a note each time your child has read at least 10 minutes so it goes towards their 100 reads to get a book from the vending machine. Once your child has finished their book, please remind them to put it in their class reading folder box so it can be changed if necessary.
Times tables
We will continue to use our maths programme 'Number sense' to prepare the children for the Year 4 multiplication check in June.
Please make sure your child is practising their 6x tables including division facts ready for the next few weeks.
To do list:
- Read your school book (try to aim for at least 10 minutes per day)
- Practise your 6x tables (and division facts) ready for our daily tests next week
- Practise your 'week 5' spellings for next weeks test (Friday)
- Complete your Maths homework into your yellow homework book (due Wednesday 25th March)
