Week 3 - 13/3/26
Science Poster Competition:
What’s YOUR Big Question?
To celebrate British Science Week, we are inviting all children to take part in The Bishop Ridley Primary School Science Poster Competition!
This year’s theme is:
Curiosity: What’s Your Question?
We would like each child to think of their own Big Scientific Question about the world around them. It could be something about space, animals, the human body, nature, inventions — anything that makes them curious!
Your task:
- Choose one BIG scientific question.
- Research the answer using books, safe websites or by discussing ideas at home.
- Design an eye-catching poster that clearly explains the answer to your question.
Posters should:
- Have a clear title showing the Big Question
- Include facts and information to answer the question
- Contain diagrams or illustrations
- Be colourful, neat and creative
⭐ Please make sure every poster clearly includes:
- Your child’s full name
- Year group
- Class name
📅 Deadline: Friday 20th March
We cannot wait to see the brilliant questions and discoveries our young scientists come up with. Let’s celebrate curiosity and the joy of learning together!
Be curious… think like a scientist!
Spellings:
Please make sure you are practising 'week 4' spellings ready for next weeks test.
Extra copies will be in the 'Spelling and Speed Spell' folder.
Reading:
It is really important that the children are reading as much as possible (preferably daily). Please make a note each time your child has read at least 10 minutes so it goes towards their 100 reads to get a book from the vending machine. Once your child has finished their book, please remind them to put it in their class reading folder box so it can be changed if necessary.
Times tables
We will continue to use our maths programme 'Number sense' to prepare the children for the Year 4 multiplication check in June.
Please make sure your child is practising their 7x tables including division facts ready for the next few weeks.
To do list:
- Read your school book (try to aim for at least 10 minutes per day)
- Practise your 7x tables (and division facts) ready for our daily tests next week
- Practise your 'week 4' spellings for next weeks test (Friday)
- Complete your Science competition homework due Friday 20th March (next Friday)
