Week 1 - 5/9/25
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Year 4! Ms Sears, Mrs Cooper and I are very excited for the academic year ahead and look forward to getting to know you all.
Homework for this week:
Art:
The children will be sent home with a 20 by 23cm piece of card that we would like them to design on using any materials of their choice (stickers, photos, feathers, glitter, pencils, pens, paints etc). This will be stuck onto the front of their art books in school. Please return these by next Wednesday (10th).
Spellings:
Each child has been sent home with a spelling sheet for the whole term. Please make sure your child knows which group they are in. These groups are either 'sharks' or 'whales'.
Please make sure you check the dates so that you know that your child is practising the correct spellings for each week.
Extra copies will be in the 'Spelling and Speed Spell' folder.
Reading:
Each child has been sent home with a reading folder, reading book and reading record this week. It is really important that the children are reading as much as possible (preferably daily). Please make a note each time your child has read at least 10 minutes so it goes towards their 100 reads to get a book from the vending machine. Once your child has finished their book, please remind them to put it in their class reading folder box so it can be changed if necessary.
Times tables
We will continue to use our maths programme 'Number sense' to prepare the children for the Year 4 mulitplication check in June.
Please make sure your child is practising their 2x, 5x and doubles (division facts too) ready for our daily tests starting from next week.
To do list:
- Read your school book (try to aim for at least 10 minutes per day)
- Practise your 5x tables (and division facts) ready for our daily tests next week
- Practise your 'week 1' spellings for next weeks test (Friday)
- Complete your Art homework onto the white card provided (Wednesday 10th September)
