As a Voluntary Aided Church of England school we have close ties with our local church, Bishop Ridley, on The Green. Services are held at the Church at various times of the year (eg. at Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Pentecost) and classes visit the church to support the RE curriculum and take part in services.
Bishop Ridley School has very close links with local groups and secondary schools, as well as the Police and Pupil Health and Welfare Services. We are developing links with Harris Academy, with whom we share our site, to take advantage of the superior facilities they are able to offer (eg. all weather playing fields, fully equipped gymnasium, ICT provision). We also have close ties with Bexley Grammar School for science projects, as well as Charlton FC and Kent County Cricket Club.
We have close links with Bishop Ridley Church and the vicar, Rev. Mark Tariq comes into school weekly to lead collective worship.
The School also visits the Church regularly for services, for example at Harvest, Easter and Christmas. Year groups also visit the Church for their own year group services throughout the school year.
If you are interested in visiting Bishop Ridley Chuch, there is a warm welcome for everyone.
There are two Sunday Services:
9am Holy Communion
A quiet, contemplative service where traditional liturgy is used.
10.30am Morning Worship
This is an all-age service, with music, worship and teaching. During the sermon, children can go to the Sunday Club. Once a month, there are also Baptisms during this service, and (on a different Sunday) the Uniformed groups join the Parade Service. All 10.30 services use powerpoint presentations, making it easy to follow. Refreshments are served after the service and there is also an opportunity at this time to talk or pray with members of the Pastoral Team.
