Search and Rescue visit the Infants

On Monday 16th January we had special guests in the infant assembly and they also visited our Reception classes who are learning all about, 'People who help us.' The guests were Mr. Torrance and his two year old dog, Archie and they came in to Bishop Ridley to talk about Search and Rescue.

Search and Rescue is a voluntary organisation that operates 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. They are a team of people and dogs that assist other emergency services, especially the police, in locating lost and vulnerable people of all ages.

Mr. Torrance talked about how the team is made up, what the team and the dogs do, showed us some photos of them in action and the kit that they have to carry. Both the team members and the dogs have certain specialised equipment when they go out on a serach.

The children really enjoyed meeting Archie and learnt lots about Search and Rescue. Archie had a fun day too !
