Year 6 School Journey to France

Every year our oldest pupils are offered the chance to take part in a five day residential trip. For many children this is the first time they will spend away from their family and is a unique social and cultural experience that they will remember for a very long time.

This year our pupils went to France, to a PGL Centre near the town of Brie Comte Robert, to the south-east of Paris. We stayed at the 19th century Chateau de Grande Romaine, which we used as a base for trips to places of interest. We visited the market in Brie, a snail farm and the medieval town of Provins in Champagne to see a display of falconry on the town ramparts. We also spent a day in Paris, visiting the Louvre Museum, the cathedral of Notre Dame and went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. We visited the beautiful royal Chateau of Fontainebleau and took part in on-site activities that included abseiling, archery and trapeze. On the way back to England we stopped at a chocolate factory and saw how chocolates are made (as well as sampling some!).

The children had a wonderful week and came back with memories that will last a lifetime.
