Governors
The Governing Body of Bishop Ridley C of E Primary
The governing body is a committed group of people; some are parents of children in school, some are church members and some are from the local educational authority but they are all part of the local community. As they have such diverse experiences between them, they can each use their skills to play an important role within the governors.
The Bishop Ridley School Governors are:
Teaching/Support Staff: Mr S Hall, Mrs A Early, Mr S Martindale, Mrs S McNulty and Mrs C Donegan
Foundation: Rev T Hatwell (Chair), Miss L Ashcroft, Mr G Bisson, Mrs C Charlwood, Mrs L Coady, Mr I Miller and Mrs J Murphy (Vice-Chair).
Local Education Authority: Mr N Betts.
Parents: Mr M Allen and Mr M Monksfield.
Governors are like a school’s Board of Directors and within that role, have to make important decisions about how the school is run. We meet every term as a whole ‘Governing Body’, as well as meeting in smaller groups known as Committees at other times during the term.
Governors are appointed to help with:
- The premises, which includes well as health and safety issues
- The interviewing and selection of staff
- School budget and staffing decisions
- The curriculum
Governors are:
- Parents with children in the school
- Staff in both a teaching and non-teaching roles within the school
- Local council representatives
- Church community representatives, businessmen and women
Finally, as a dedicated group we take our governor roles very seriously. Our overall aim is to help Bishop Ridley school and pupils achieve the highest standards and for the pupils to feel secure and happy within the school environment.
